CHANHASSEN, Minn. — At a time when the nation faces ever-rising obesity rates and a generation of children facing serious health consequences, Life Time – The Healthy Way of Life CompanySM (NYSE:LTM) announces the 2013 Life Time Kids Tri Series schedule. Young athletes will swim, bike and run in this 3-event race that not only promotes fitness but improves children's self confidence as they cross the finish line on their own.
Life Time Kids Tri events are designed for youth ages 7–14 with each young triathlete receiving his/her own race T-shirt, swim cap, race number and finisher medal. Events will be held in 11 locations throughout the summer months of 2013:
Life Time Kids Tri events offer two age brackets designed to challenge participants:
"Many of our members bring their children to Life Time every day where they spend time in swimming lessons or participating in activities that encourage them to get active and improve their self confidence," says Mary Kunz, brand manager for Life Time Kids Tri. "The Life Time Kids Tri Series allows for kids to expand the skills they’re learning in our clubs and get an early taste of races like triathalons as they continue developing a life-long passion for living a health way of life."
In an effort to raise awareness for what is in the food we eat, the Life Time Kids Tri Series has partnered with the Life Time Foundation as part of its "Healthy Kids, Healthy Planet" mission. Through an initiative designed to inspire healthier food and increased awareness in our nation’s schools, the Life Time Foundation is working hard to remove the "Unsavory Seven" ingredients in school lunch programs around the country. 100% of every dollar donated to the Life Time Foundation supports its missions. All registrants have the ability to make a donation to support healthier school lunch programs during registration online for any Kids Tri event.
