Kids Tri Chicago – August 29, 2015

The Life Time Kids Tri Chicago is the perfect launching pad for a youngster to break into the sport and the kick off event of the Transamerica Chicago Triathlon presented by Toyota weekend. The swim takes place in Lake Michigan at Chicago's Montrose Avenue Beach, including a shallow water start, parallel to the beach. The bike and run take place on closed park roadways and running paths all along Chicago's beautiful lakefront.

RACE SCHEDULE

August 29, 2015
6:30 a.m. Transition area/packet pickup opens
8:15 a.m. Transition area/packet pickup closes
8:20 a.m. Mandatory course talk
8:30 a.m. First wave starts (Seniors first, Juniors second)
8:55 a.m. First finisher
9:30 a.m. Last wave starts (Juniors)
10:00 a.m. Transition area re-opens
10:15 a.m. Final finisher
10:30 a.m. Kids Tri awards ceremony

There will also be a mandatory course talk for all Life Time Kids Tri Chicago participants at 8:20 a.m. on race morning at the swim start.

**Parents who are registered for the SuperSprint will be allowed to check in their youth athletes during the SuperSprint T-area schedule. Parents and youth MUST have their body markings, bib and bike numbers visible in order to check a youth in early.**

DISTANCES
Junior (7-10) Distances
100m swim | 4K bike | 1K run | 5.1K (3.2 miles) total

Senior (11-14) Distances
200m swim | 8K bike | 2K run | 10.2K (6.3 miles) total

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Swim Course
The youth athletes will begin their swim on the middle section of Montrose Ave. Beach and swim east past the buoy, swim south, turn right at buoy, then swim west to shore and exit the water at the south end of Montrose Ave. Beach. (7- 10 years: 100 meters, 11-14 years: 200 meters)

T1
The transition area is located just West of the Montrose Avenue Beach in a grassy area known as Grove 16, near the intersection of Montrose Avenue and Simonds Drive. The Kids Tri transition will be marked accordingly as it will be separated from the SuperSprint transition for the first year ever!

Bike Course
The bike course will take place on the closed road of Simonds Drive. The athletes will begin at Montrose Ave., head North on Simonds Drive, turnaround at the Foster Ave beach parking lot, then head back South to Montrose Ave. The 7- to 10-year-olds will do one (1) loop (4K) and the 11- to 14-year-olds will do two (2) loops (8K).

Run Course
The run course is located on the running paths just North of Montrose Avenue.

Awards go to the top three boys and top three girls in the following age groups:

  • 13-14

Relay Teams
Awards go to first place boys, girls and co-ed relay teams in the following age groups:

  • Senior 11-14

Paratriathletes

Awards go to the top three boys and top three girls in the following age groups:

  • 7-10
  • 11-14
