Kids Tri Plymouth – July 14, 2013

2013 registration is now open! The early bird catches the worm, so be sure to register early to receive the best pricing of the year. Act fast, these races will fill up!

New for Life Time Kids Tri Plymouth in 2013
In response to athlete feedback, we have adjusted the swim distance this year for the 9–10 age group. Beginning in 2013, 9- and 10-year-olds will swim 75 yards, instead of 50. All other distances remain the same. Registration will open on April 1, 2013.

In addition, we are inviting youth ages 7–12 to join us this year in Plymouth and encouraging 13–14-year-olds to participate in the North American Junior Invitational event at Lake Nokomis on Saturday, July 13th. For more information visit mplstri.com.

How It Works

New to LT Kids Tri? Welcome! Returning athlete? Welcome back! We’d like to give you some insight to how the 2013 event will work.

Each athlete will be required to pick up their bib packet prior to the race (see the schedule of events for options).  At packet pickup, participants will receive their race number, helmet number, swim cap, wave assignment and timing chip. Damaged or misplaced timing chips will require a replacement fee at the sole responsibility of the participant’s guardian. Please take great care to remember your chip at the start line!

Race morning, each athlete will need to get body marked. Body marking consists of writing the race number on the upper arm and age on the back of the calf. This is done to help identify the athletes when they are in the water. All junior division participants will be marked with red marker and senior division participants will be marked with black marker to properly identify them.

Once body marking is complete you may head into the transition area to set up your bike. Parents will be allowed into the transition to help set up but will not be allowed back into the transition area once the race has begun. We will have volunteers to assist with the flow of racers in the transition area. If a child needs help locating their bike, we will assist them. The transition area will close approximately 15 minutes prior to race time (see the schedule of events for specific times) and after that no one will be allowed into the barricaded area unless they are racing.

Athletes should report to the pool area at least 15 minutes prior to their start time. In the event of a Wave Start, volunteers will hold signs with wave numbers to call for specific participants. When your wave number is shown, please head down to the pool deck and connect with the volunteers. We will run the waves approximately 3–5 minutes apart. There will be a lot of safety instructions and other course talk information the morning of the race. Our first priority is the safety of all the children!  In certain locations, a time trial swim will be used.

Keep an eye on LTKidsTri.com for race day details and make sure to attend the athlete briefing offered (see the schedule of events for specific times).

Good luck, kids, and have fun!
